The original two vaulted skylights were replaced with 5-foot by 25-foot thermalized barrel vault systems with clear acrylic over Lumira aerogel–filled 16 mm clear multiwall polycarbonate laylites
Challenge
The existing single-glazed acrylic skylights included a 21-foot acrylic dome skylight positioned over the teller area and two large barrel vault units installed over the customer service desks. The 25-year-old skylights were leaking and were the source of uncontrolled glare and heat, which made both employees and customers uncomfortable and unproductive.
Solution
A Pinnacle 350 20-sided polygon pyramid with energy-efficient Opal IR polycarbonate glazing was installed to replace the dome.
The two vaulted skylights were replaced with 5' by 25' Continuous Vault systems with clear acrylic over Lumira® aerogel–filled clear multiwall polycarbonate laylites.
The glazing on all skylights provides UV protection and beautifully diffused full spectrum daylight while minimizing heat gain.
