The translucent Horizon C-Series is constructed of lightweight, impact-resistant, UV-protected polycarbonate panels.
Challenge
In 2012, Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the shores of New York, causing flooding and substantial damage to the Playland “Ice Casino”. As part of the reconstruction efforts, the Casino’s old wooden shingle roof was to be replaced with a new standing seam metal roof, along with finding a better solution for the rubberized fabric perimeter, which was not energy efficient and provided very little natural daylight.
Solution
The C-Series canopy system – constructed of lightweight, impact-resistant, UV-protected polycarbonate panels – was chosen over the fiberglass panel system originally specified for three very important reasons: 30 to 40 percent savings in labor costs, 10 percent savings in material costs, and greater daylight.
